Sorry about the huge gaps in reporting but we were just on the go most of the time and then when we did have a few days to relax at the very end of our time in Greece, I was having password problems with my account. To top it off, I left my travel journal with all my detailed notes and postcards on the flight from Athens to Newark and of course no one turned it in. That was really distressing. Actually, the whole trip back from Athens was challenging, starting with the taxi being half an hour late and then deciding to take the surface streets instead of the state highway. We arrived barely two hours before our flight, and got checked 6 times for ID, etc. before we got on the plane. My purse was stolen in Athens the days our tour group left for home. I lost my passport, credit cards, driver's license, prescription sunglasses, new purse and concert tickets in one fell swoop. I know exactly when it happened looking back, but it was done so smoothly (in a sidewalk sandwich place) that I didn't notice it was gone until we got up to leave. I just about had a meltdown, but eventually we got all the calls made, the police report filed (what a joke that was), and next morning took a taxi to the American embassy where I got a temporary replacement passport--for a small fee ($100). I guess we were lucky to be in Athens at the time so we could get to the embassy relatively easily. We went on to Crete the next morning (July 2) and met out dear friends from England the following day.
Hal promises he will upload pictures soon, but he's taking a LONG nap today after a pretty exhausting 6 days of travel to Idaho, Oregon and back. I promise to catch up as best I can on our travels very soon.
